Avenged Sevenfold avslutter samarbeidet med Mike Portnoy
På sin facebook-side har Mike Portnoy kommet med følgende uttalelse:
Yes, the rumours are true…sadly my time with Avenged Sevenfold has come to an end…
The band has decided to carry on into 2011 without me…I had a great time with them throughout 2010, but it was their choice to end the relationship at the end of 2010 as was always the initial plan….
I had an awesome time on stage with the guys every night and have so many cool memories from the experience with them…I am proud to always be part of the A7X family and history.
I also adore the A7X fans and totally appreciate the way they welcomed me aboard and were so loving and supportive during my time with the band…thank you!
As far as my future, I am excited by the endless musical possibilities that lie ahead of me…my love for music runs very deep and my taste is very broad and ecclectic which will give me the chance to explore many different things and collaborate with many great friends and artists I admire and respect…

Dream Theater headliner High Voltage Festival 2011
Det har akkurat blitt annonsert at Dream Theater kommer til å spille ved High Voltage Festival i 2011. Dette er en festival som foregår i London, i Victora Park på østkanten. Den startet opp i 2010, og hovedfokuset er Classic Rock, Prog og Metal. I 2010 kunne man se band som Transatlantic, Opeth, Marillion og Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Undertegnede var på denne festivalen i 2010, og det var uten tvil en av de absolutte høydepunktene i konsertsommeren. Fantastiske matboder, vandrende øl og cider-selgere, og generelt god stemning gjorde dette til en festival jeg gjerne besøker igjen
23. og 24. Juli, i London. Sees vi der?

Dream Theater har blitt innlemmet i Long Island Music Hall of Fame
Den 16. november 2010 ble Dream Theater innlemmet i Long Island Music Hall of Fame. John Petrucci, John Myung, Mike Portnoy og Kevin Moore startet bandet i 1986 mens de gikk på Berklee College of Music, men alle fire vokste opp i Long Island, New York. Etter at de sluttet på Berklee begynte de sakte men sikkert å øke sin følgeskare i lokalområdet. 26 år etter er fortsatt to av de fire originalmedlemmene med i bandet, og bandet er større enn noensinne, med ti plateutgivelser og tusenvis av konserter bak seg.

Mike Portnoy Forlater Dream Theater
Mike Portnoy og Dream Theater annonserte i natt at Mike ikke lenger vil være en del av bandet, og at de kommer til å fortsette uten ham fremover. Mike følte for en pause, men bandet ønsket å gå videre med en ny plate så snart som mulig, så derfor bestemte de seg for å gå hver sin vei. Hvem som kommer til å ta over stolen er per nå uvisst, men bandet sier at de kommer til å gå i studio i januar 2011, med påfølgende plate og turné.
Mike Portnoy var med på å starte bandet, og har hele veien vært den som har jobbet for å utvikle bandet videre, både musikalsk og det «foretningsmessige». Uten ham hadde nok ikke DTNorway eksistert i den grad det gjør i dag, han har alltid vært en person som har forstått hva det betyr å være fan og har derfor gitt fansen et innblikk i Dream Theaters verden som har vært uvurderlig. Vi takker ham for alle muligheter vi har fått med hans hjelp, og ønsker ham lykke til videre. TRANSATLANTIC FLIES AGAIN!!!
PROGRESSIVE ROCK SUPERGROUP
REUNITES FOR NEW STUDIO ALBUM.
POSSIBLE LATE 2009 RELEASE PLANNED.
TRANSATLANTIC, the progressive rock «supergroup» comprised of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Pete Trewavas (Marillion), Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) and Neal Morse (ex-Spock’s Beard), have reunited after a 7 year hiatus to begin work on a brand new studio album.
The band began work on the album in early April in Nashville and are expected to have it released by year’s end if all goes as planned.
TRANSATLANTIC have previously released two studio albums to tremendous critical and fan acclaim: 2000’s SMPTe and 2001’s Bridge Across Forever. The band toured on the heels of each release with an American Tour in 2000 and a European Tour in 2001 and released subsequent Live DVD’s/CD’s from both tours before going their separate ways for an indefinite hiatus which lasted almost the entire decade.
LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT – LIVE BOX SET NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER
Originally, my intention was to record several shows and combine them to make one compilation CD/DVD release….but in reviewing the tapes, it became very obvious that the NYC and LA footage each offered very different perspectives of the shows we did…each with their own distinct personalities and both having their own charms (and flaws….)
The NYC show was very much a loud, sweaty, small club show (with alot of energy from the crowd) and the LA show was very much a more polished, breathing, theater experience (which offered a more relaxed «presentation»).
So in the end, I decided to simply offer both shows in their entirety…
It’s not often people will get to experience LTE Live, so why not offer you guys the chance to see and hear us in both settings….?
And even though the setlists are the same, you can hear some very subtle (and also some very obvious) differences from one performance to the next…
